Krka National Park / Skradin

" Seven Magnificent "

The Krka National Park covers an area of 109 km2 in Sibenik-Knin County. Krka is a natural and karst phenomenon and the travertine waterfalls of the river Krka are a fundamental phenomenon - Bilusica buk, Brljan, Manojlovac, Rosnjak, Miljacka slap, Roski slap and Skradinski buk. In 1985, it was declared a national park. It is also rich in cultural and historical monuments, especially the Franciscan monastery on the island of Visovac. Krka is a picture book; it changes its temperament countless times.

The valleys of the Krka are green, and the valley of Constantinople is an impressive architecture of an exciting combination of Byzantine and Mediterranean elements. Above the river in the same valley are Vilingrad or Bogocina also from the 14th century. Here, calm water flows into the lake and from the lake it travels further through a canyon 150 m deep.

The highest waterfall is Manojlovac, 59.6 meters high, where there are hollow churches, masonry stone arches, the remains of Roman camps. Downstream is the Rosnjak waterfall, unique because it is a waterfall among waterfalls. One kilometre lower is the Miljacka waterfall and two medieval fortifications, Trosenj and Nevcen.

The end of this canyon is the beginning of the Roski waterfall, which is enchanting. Its most generous width is 450 meters, and it is 650 meters long. There is a network of water that will soon fall, creating a picture of silver necklaces scattered along the river. Above Roski slap is the Ozidana cave, a prehistoric site where traces of human presence from the Neolithic period can be seen. The lake below Roski slap is about 300 meters wide.

In the middle of the lake, there is an islet Visovac on which are located a church and a monastery. In the 14th century, there were hermits - hermits of St. Augustine who built a monastery and a church, and from 1445 Bosnian Franciscans who come to this day.
At Skradinski Buka, the Krka valley merges with the Cikola valley, and a unique lake surface with two branches is created. It is a karst spring of the Torak surface calm and smooth as a mirror with a diameter of 150 meters. Skradinski buk is the largest and richest waterfall on the Krka, where seventeen barriers transfer water and create a beautiful and sound image of nature. All shades of green are the clearest here-the freshest cool blue. What is more beautiful than a natural phenomenon ...
